Kenya Power announces blackout in 3 counties

Kenya Power has announced a temporary blackout scheduled for Wednesday, April 10, affecting three counties.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 9, the utility company cited network maintenance as the reason for the blackout.

“Below please find areas that will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (Wednesday),” the utility company said.

Kiambu County will experience the outage in areas such as Kibichoi, Gathiruini, and Githioro from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents in Marige, Kibichoi, Kigumo, and surrounding areas will be affected.

Similarly, Migori County will be affected, with Uriri, Bware, and Oyani areas experiencing the blackout from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Residents in Uriri, Kamsaki, Koigo, and neighbouring areas are advised to prepare accordingly.

In Nyeri County, the temporary blackout will impact Kiriani and Kamune areas from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents in Gatugi Market, Kiriaini Town, Munaini DC’s Office, and other locations should expect disruption.

Previous power interruption

On Monday, April 8, part of Embu County experienced a power outage.

In a statement shared on Sunday, April 7, the utility company cited network maintenance as the reason for the interruption.

“Good Evening. The listed areas will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (8th April 2024). The interruption is part of network maintenance.”

The affected areas include Masinga and Msingini. The blackout occurred from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm local time.

Residents of Masinga Town, Msingini, Msingini Resort, Mutwamwaki, Kalundu, Matithini, Tulimiyumbu, and adjacent customers were affected.
