Juliana Cherera, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Vice Chairperson has denied ownership of any social media accounts bearing her name.

Juliana says she is aware that there has been a surge of fake accounts as a result of her overly public job which propelled her to fame.

Speaking to a local media house, Cherera says she has since reported all the fake accounts to the relevant authorities.

“I am not on social media. All those Facebook/Twitter accounts are fake and I have reported them to the relevant organizations/authorities,” she noted.

Juliana Cherera caught Kenyans’ attention following her presser just minutes before the IEBC chairman announced the 2022 presidential results.

She and three other commissioners deserted their Chairman Wafula Chebukati citing ‘opaqueness’ of the final tally of presidential results further saying they do not take ownership of the official declaration of William Ruto as the president-elect.

She was flanked by commissioners Justus Nyang’aya, Irene Cherono, and Francis Wanderi.

“We cannot take ownership of the result that is going to be announced because of the opaque nature of this last phase of the general election,” Juliana Cherera said in parts.

In a subsequent presser, she claimed that Chebukati’s numbers had exceeded the 100 per cent mark sparking even more chatter online.

However, in a plot twist, Chebukati shifted the blame saying the quartet wanted to force a re-run.

“The alleged 0.01 per cent increase in the Presidential Election results raised by the four Commissioners namely Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi, Justus Nyang’aya, and Irene Masit, is false and misleading,” part of Chebukti’s statement read.

The IEBC boss also added that the commission conducted the most transparent election according to the law.
