Police in Nairobi are holding a 32-year-old man for allegedly sodomising a 4-year-old boy.
Samuel Agesa, a bodaboda operator in the city, was arrested after a complaint filed by the minor’s teacher at Parklands Police Station.
In a statement on Thursday, June 23, 2022, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the PP1 teacher got concerned after noticing that the boy was in severe pain.
After interrogation, the child recounted to the teacher how his mother’s boyfriend would engage him in the unnatural act whenever the parent was away.
The mother, Irene Nduku, 30, was also arrested and is cooling her heels in police custody alongside her boyfriend as investigations into the incident continue.
“The two are currently in custody at Parklands police station as detectives finalize their investigations and drafting of appropriate charges, to have them arraigned in court,” DCI said.
Meanwhile, the boy was rushed to a city hospital for treatment.
DCI said the minor is in a serious condition.
Cases of sodomy have been on the rise in the recent past.
Middle-aged man sodomised in Murang’a
In December last year, two suspects were arrested after allegedly sodomising a 41-year-old man in Murang’a.
Police said the victim was walking towards Kahethu shopping centre at around 1 am when he was approached by the four men who roughed him up before sodomising him.
“The young men wrestled the victim at a secluded area where they did the despicable act in turn,” DCI said in a statement.
The suspects are said to have taken off after committing the act leaving their victim lying on the ground with serious injuries.
Following the incident, DCI said detectives had arrested 25-year-old Bernard Kamande and 21-year-old Erick Kimani, who were positively identified by the man.
