Thursday’s blackout to affect 5 counties

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled blackout set to affect several regions on Thursday, May 16.

The outage will impact five counties, with the utility company attributing the interruption to routine network maintenance.

Kenya Power outlined the areas and timings for the planned blackout.

In Nairobi County, parts of Parklands are scheduled for an interruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The affected areas include Chemilil Rd, UoN Parklands, Kipkabus Rd, among others.

Similarly, Mutuini and parts of Kabiria will experience a power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This includes locations such as Mutuini Pri, Manyatta Rd, and Mutego Village.

Chemilil Rd, Uon Parklands, Kipkabus Rd, Part Of Ngara Rd, Part Of Kipande Rd, Chandarana S/mkt, Part Of Mushembi Rd, Museum Hqtrs, Wetlands Rd, Gtc, Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic Bank & Adjacent Customers,” Kenya Power stated.

In West Pokot County, areas like Ortum and Sigor will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting communities including Sebit, Sina, and Kerelwa.

Parts of Kisumu County, including Chiga Hosp and Obumba, will experience an interruption from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Notable areas impacted are Wildor, Chiga Kalusi, and Nyamonge.

Moreover, in Nyeri County, Marua and Muruguru will face a blackout from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This will affect places such as George, Muruguru Booster, and Ndakaini.

George, Muruguru Booster, Marua, Ndakaini, Fk Resort, Kinguka, Rukandu, Gacihi, Kuguru, Kiamuiru, Kigera, Githiru C/fact, Kahiga, Gikunju Maternity & Adjacent Customers,” Kenya Power added.

Lastly, parts of Laikipia County, including Mukima, KHE, and Nyariginu, will encounter a power outage from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Communities like Mukima Centre and Murungai will be among those affected.
