A shouting match erupted at the Bomas of Kenya auditorium on Saturday night at around 11 pm prompting police to intervene to restore calm.

Chaos erupted shortly after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials announced results for some of the constituencies whose votes had been verified.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance’s agents clashed with their counterparts from Kenya Kenya accusing them of trying to alter the results.

“Mwizi, mwizi,” Azimio agents shouted at Kithure Kindiki, Kipchumba Murkomen and other Kenya Kwanza agents demanding that they shouldn’t move close to the tables where vote verification and tallying were happening.

Anti-riot police were finally called in to restore calm and separate members of the two political factions who were about to fight each other.

The heavy contingent of anti-riot police remained inside the Bomas auditorium to maintain peace as IEBC continued with the tallying of votes from different constituencies.

Earlier, the Azimio camp raised rigging concerns after IEBC erroneously tallied 10,000 votes in favour of Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate William Ruto.
