9 counties to be affected by blackout on Thursday – Kenya Power

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of power interruptions on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in select parts of nine counties.

The counties affected include Nairobi, Machakos, Trans Nzoia, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Kiambu counties.

The utility firm, in a statement, said there would be a scheduled outage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lower Kabete Road area of Nairobi county.

Kenya Power said Kyumbi and Kiasa areas of Machakos county will experience power outage from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The larger Kiminini and Tongaren areas in Trans Nzoia County will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Muhoroni town and the surrounding areas such as Agro-Chemical Lagoon, Koru County Club, Kandiege, Kotetni, Kapkoro and Mariwa all in Kisumu county will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Kalenda, Malava, Shandereme, Kambiri, Kambi Mwanza, Musaga market, Samurai, Shemberere TTI, West Kenya Sugar and adjacent areas in Kakamega county will be without power from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The larger Ebulondi area in Vihiga County will be hit by an eight-hour blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ihwagi, Giakaibei and Gikumbo areas in Nyeri county will be without power for seven hours from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Gatuanyaga and Kisii estate areas of Kiambu County will be hit by an eight-hour blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Makutano, PI and Mutithi areas of Kirinyaga county will experience the shortest power interruption today, just a five-hour blackout from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm.
