Shabana, Police on collision course as FKF Cup quarterfinal takes centre stage

Shabana FC and reigning FKF PL champions Police FC will renew their rivalry for a second time in a row, albeit in the FKF Cup clash this Saturday, May 2, 2026.
The clash at Gusii Stadium comes with much at stake as both sides aim for a spot in the FKF Cup semifinals.
The cup competition remains the only viable path to silverware for both teams, who have played second fiddle to league leaders Gor Mahia and challengers AFC this season.
However, with the elimination of the two, both teams fancy themselves as favourites for the honours heading into the clash.
Maiden top-flight silverware
For Shabana, the club seeks a maiden cup since returning to the top flight in 2023. Having battled through the stages to reach the last eight, the significance of this premier knockout competition only gets bigger.
Tore Bobe heads into the tie after holding Nicholas Muyoti’s side to a barren draw in their last league encounter.
Silverware ambitions
Despite failing to make their home advantage count, the club seeks a repeat of the massive fan attendance to get over the law enforcement team when it matters.
Road to last eight
The KPL side advanced to this stage after eliminating the sole NSL side, Kuta Collections, in their previous Round of 16 clash.
Police, who are the 2024 cup winners, edged giant slayer BB Bread FC to book their ticket to the next round.

The home team, Shabana, must, however, deal with a rejuvenated Police team that has built a reputation for a solid defensive line in the league so far.
Muyoti’s boys have since turned a new leaf since the gaffer’s arrival and remain keen to rescue their hot-and-cold league form with back-to-back silverware
Players to watch
Despite their stalwart defense, Yves Koutiama has been a thorn in the flesh for FKF PL defenders. Boasting goals in the league so far, the mid-season arrival from Burkina Faso will be the man to go to in unlocking the Glamour Boys’ defense.
On their part, Wycliffe Omondi’s goal-scoring run as a defender will be key at both ends as the centre back aims not only to keep the Police talisman at bay but also to limit his offensive influence in the quarterfinal encounter.
The clash will be among several mouth-watering clashes set to light up the FKF Cup’s last eight fixtures.
