PHOTOS: How Manchester United’s new 100,000-seater stadium will look upon completion
By Joel Masibo, September 26, 2026Manchester United have taken a major step towards replacing Old Trafford after securing most of the land needed for the construction of a proposed 100,000-capacity stadium.
The site, covering 25 acres, is situated about 350 metres north-west of the current Old Trafford ground. The club bought the property from Indurent, an industrial property provider owned by Blackstone.
The planned venue is expected to become the largest stadium in the United Kingdom and will form a key part of the wider redevelopment of the Old Trafford area.
Manchester United said it would work with businesses affected by the development to help them manage the transition as the project progresses.
The club has also been working with Trafford Council and the Old Trafford Regeneration Mayoral Development Corporation (OTRMDC) to ensure the stadium fits into the wider regeneration plans for the area.
The wider 370-acre redevelopment is projected to provide about 15,000 new homes, including affordable housing. It is also expected to generate 48,000 jobs in the local area and more than 90,000 across the UK, while contributing over £7 billion annually to the country’s economy.

Manchester United’s new stadium project is part of a broader plan to transform the area around Old Trafford while allowing the club to retain its long-standing connection with its current home.
