Pamzo reveals APS Bomet’s strategy that upset AFC Leopards’ FKF PL title ambitions
APS Bomet coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo was left hailing a well-laid team strategy in their win over AFC Leopards on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
The former Gor Mahia coach was the man to ultimately decide the long and exciting league race, as his Bomet side snapped Leopards’ chase for the league title with a surprise defeat in Kericho.
Philip Wasai stings Ingwe
Philip Wasai struck in quick succession to hand Fred Ambani’s side the defeat that marked the end of Leopards’ quest to end a league drought that has lasted since 1998, with Gor Mahia being declared champions.
Speaking after the clash, Omollo said he expected the title-chasing team to give them a formidable challenge in the encounter.
“I knew the game would be tough, like the first-leg encounter with them. In the first half, it was Ingwe who were on top, and we waited for them and waited for when to pounce,” Omollo said.
Known as a coach who prefers it when his team keeps clean sheets, Pamzo noted that it was a pity his side did not keep a clean sheet while also congratulating Ingwe for battling hard against their quest for a shutout.
“We dominated the second half and got the goals from Wasai; I must commend the boys for the wonderful display, and I am happy for them,” he noted.

He also praised his match-winning substitutions, singling out Francis Omondi, whose introduction was crucial in swinging the match in their favour.
Pamzo was left gushing over the midfielder’s pivotal role en route to the victory.
Omondi’s influential role
“I decided to leave Omondi out and introduce him later. I am glad with how he played; he brought leadership upfront and in the attacking midfield and also made our defence calmer,” he stated.
“We have the kind of players who know what to do when they get into action, and he did just that,” he added.
His remarks came after his nemesis on the opposite dugout, Fred Ambani, railed at the levels of officiating in the clash.
Ambani decries officiating
Ambani decried the rationale behind handing a match of such huge magnitude to the referee.
“I want to go on record saying that we are headed for doom if we cannot rectify and address the issues of officiating. We cannot have such league deciders being handed to such referees.”
“First of all, where is his origin? It is nonsense; you cannot give him a game of this magnitude,” he lamented.
