Make or break weekend for Kenyan stars in CAF interclub games
By Luke Oluoch, January 29, 2026The fate of four Kenyan internationals in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) interclub group stages could be decided this weekend as CAF continental action enters matchday 4 this Friday, January 30, 2026.
Duke Abuya of Young Africans and Moses Shumah of Power Dynamos are among the Kenyan stars facing contrasting fortunes in the CAF CL games.

The Harambee Stars attacking duo seeks to overturn the deficit after a loss and a draw, respectively, in the CAF CL round three games.
Shumah was a substitute in Dynamos 0-0 draw against Rivers United from Nigeria. The point earned the reigning Zambian champions their first point in the group C, though the AbaYellow remains rooted at the bottom of the group.
The Oswald Mutapa side next faces Rivers in the return leg clash on Sunday, February 1, 2026, needing a win to remain afloat in the competition.
A defeat or draw will leave Power Dynamos trailing the leading pack of RS Berkane and Pyramids further, with only two games left to conclude the group encounter.

Meanwhile, Abuya, whose side slumped to a 2-0 defeat to record African giants Al Ahly, will be in action on Saturday, January 31, 2026, as Young Africans host the Egyptians for the decisive return leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Yanga are placed second in Group B behind Al Ahly, who dictate proceedings in the group. The East Africans are on four points, two ahead of Morocco’s AS FAR and the Algerian side, AS Kablylie.
The clash will kick off at 4:00 pm.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Bajaber’s Simba SC and Levis Opiyo of Zesco United, are also on verge of elimination from the continental games.
Bajaber’s Simba are at the bottom of their group D standings in the CAF CL, while Opiyo’s Zesco will also be hunting to remain in the competition as they play Kaizer Chiefs away in Durban on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The Tanzanian giants run the risk of an early elimination from the CAF CL games if they fail to get a result in their matchday 4 return leg clash against ES Tunis on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Tanzania.
