Swedish third-tier side Enköpings SK have signed Kenyan midfielder Andres Odhiambo Omondi from Kariobangi Sharks. The 18-year-old joins the Ettan Norra club as part of a growing link between Kenyan youth football and the Swedish side.

Omondi plays as a central midfielder. He developed at Kariobangi Sharks in the Kenyan Premier League, where he built a reputation as an attacking-minded midfielder with strong technical ability.

Enköpings SK confirmed the move in an official statement on Saturday, February 14, 2026, crediting his representative as “agent 1914”. Reports had previously linked the young midfielder with bigger Swedish clubs, including AIK, but ESK completed the transfer.

The move continues a trend. Last season, fellow Kenyans Stanley Wilson Omondi and Irad Mshindi featured for ESK. Stanley joined on loan from AIK, while Mshindi, later in January 2026, secured a move to Latvian club FK Liepāja. Their presence helped build trust between the Swedish club and Kenyan talent pathways.

Omondi arrives in Sweden with international experience. He has represented Kenya at Under-20 level in competitive matches. That exposure to high-pressure games should help him adapt quickly.

Omondi shares first impressions

Speaking in his first interview after arriving in Sweden, Omondi shared his early impressions.

“Since I came here, my first impression has been meeting good people, good teammates. Yeah, they are amazing players, and I’m so ready to work with them,” he said.

He explained why he chose Enköpings SK.

“I have been following up on ESK. Yeah, it’s a good club, and I have been looking forward to join you guys and I’m so happy to be here. They have good facilities and I was ready to play here in Europe.”

Omondi also described his style of play.

“I’m more of a technical player, I’m more of a team player, and a hard-working player. I’m ready to help my team here.”

The move presents a new challenge. Swedish football demands physical strength, tactical discipline and consistency. The weather will also test him. Moving from Nairobi to Sweden requires adjustment, especially during the colder months.

Enköpings SK compete in Division 1 Norra, a competitive level where clubs often give young players regular minutes. The league offers a clear pathway to higher divisions in Sweden. The club’s willingness to trust Kenyan players gives him an advantage. Familiar faces and shared experiences can ease the transition.

He joins Collins Sichenje, Manzur Okwaro, Austin Odhiambo, Amos Wanjala and Zech Obiero, among others who have secured moves abroad from January 2026.
