Kenya volleyball talent export continues with a pair securing moves abroad
The Kenya Volleyball Fraternity has continued to make its mark in the regional volleyball scene, with the Postbank pair of Winnie Odhimbo and Naomi Akinyi the latest to move abroad.
The Malkia Strikers have confirmed the switch of the pair to the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) volleyball club in Tanzania, adding to the number of Kenyan stars plying their trade abroad.
Welcome
“TPA Volleyball Club is proud to welcome Winnie Odhiambo to their family,” part of the Malkia Strikers statement read in part on Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Odhiambo plays as an outside hitter, while Akinyi has been a dependable player as an opposite within the PostBank team.

The transfer comes days after Malkia Strikers attacker Veronicah Adhiambo, also added to the list of the record African champions, on the move to the paid ranks.
Adhiambo completed a move to Greek top-tier Aris Volleyball in January 2026, marking her return to the European league.
Kenyan Volleyball exports
The player was the most outstanding performer in the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championship in Thailand. She has also had stints in Israel and Greece with Panionios Volleyball Club.
The other Kenyans in the paid ranks include Malkia Striker skipper Meldina Sande, who turns out for Police Women VC in Rwanda.
The Malkia striker co-captain joined the Rwandese side in 2025 and was crowned the Rwanda League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the best attacker
Sharon Chepchumba is also another former Malkia Strikers player plying the European League after his August 2025 move to Azerbaijan. The decorated attacker features for Genke Volleyball Club.
Meanwhile, Emannuel Matui and Elphas Makuto are among the Wafalme strikers in the Rwandese National Volleyball League (RNVL).
