HSBC SVSN2: Shujaa and Lionesses squad for South America legs unveiled

Kenya Rugby Union has unveiled the squad for the Lionesses and the male rugby seven team Shujaa that will be tasked with duty for the second and third legs of the 2026 series in Montevideo, and Sao Paulo
The Montevideo leg will be held from Saturday, March 21, to Sunday, March 22, 2026, while the São Paulo leg will be held from Saturday, March 28, to Sunday, March 29, 2026.

According to the presser on Friday, March 13, 2026, coach Kevin Wambua Bling has entrusted a contingent of 14 players to represent the Shujaa team for the leg in America.
Among the notable inclusions is Gabriel Ayimba, who rejoins the side after missing the Nairobi leg. Ayimba has been a crucial cog in the Strathmore University team and will look to add to his budding profile with the national team setup.
The team’s leadership responsibilities remain on the shoulders of KCB star George Ooro and Samuel Asati, who will act as the co-captains.
Speaking ahead of the crucial South American assignments, Asati expressed confidence in defending the nation’s pride in the games with an honourable performance.

“Shujaa has always been the pride of Africa in rugby. Going back to the series would mean a lot to the country, and it will bring back the interest of Kenyans to continue watching the series,” he told KRU
For the Lionesses, a 13-player squad has been named for the final two legs of the second-tier leg of the World Rugby series set to take place in Montevideo, Uruguay, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Christabel Lindo and Faith Livoi, who both missed the Nairobi leg, are the notable inclusions for the women’s team.
Grace Okulu will, however, miss the South American leg, as she remains with her club in France due to club commitments.

Naomi Amuguni, Charity Nillah, Christabel Lindo, Sheila Chajira, Stellah Wafula, Faith Livoi, Edith Nariaka, Judith Auma, Sinaida Mokaya, Moreen Muritu, Janet Okello, Freshia Oduor , Marvel Oswago.
The American legs come after Shujaa and Lionesses sides faced contrasting fortunes during the Saturday, February 14, and Sunday, February 15, 2026, leg held at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
The Lionesses secured a 5th-place finish during the Nairobi leg and have now set their sights firmly on breaking into the top three in subsequent legs.
On their part, Shujaa managed a third-place finish.
