Harambee Stars wrapped up their FIFA Series campaign on a high, beating Grenada to secure third place in the mini-tournament staged at Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda, on Monday, March 30, 2026.

The national team went all guns blazing from the first whistle, asserting dominance early and controlling the pace of the game.

Austine Odhiambo opened the scoring in the 13th minute, setting the tone for a confident display. Just five minutes later, Ryan Ogam doubled Kenya’s advantage in the 18th minute, continuing his fine form in front of goal.

The third goal came in the second half after pressure from Kenya forced an own goal by Grenada’s Valcin.

Harambee Stars dictated the match throughout, enjoying superior ball possession and registering 15 shots compared to Grenada’s two, underlining their control and attacking intent.

Semi-Final setback

The result marked a strong response after Kenya’s semi-final disappointment on Friday, March 27, 2026. Harambee Stars had missed out on a place in the final after losing to Estonia in a penalty shootout.

The match had ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time, with Ogam levelling matters in the second half after Tanel Tammik had given Estonia the lead from a corner. Estonia went on to win the shootout after Richard Odada’s panenka attempt sailed over the bar.

That defeat had stretched Kenya’s run to four matches without a win across all competitions, piling pressure on the team ahead of the third-place playoff.

Dominant response

Facing a Grenada side that had been heavily beaten by hosts Rwanda, Harambee Stars delivered a composed and commanding performance. They pressed high, created chances, and rarely allowed their opponents into the game.

The victory not only secured third place but also restored confidence within the squad. The players showed improved coordination and attacking sharpness, offering a glimpse of what the team can achieve when firing on all fronts.
