Harambee Starlets’ Mwanalima Adam helps Denmark club secure Champions League spot

Her appearance in the prestigious European competition would see her become just the second Kenyan female footballer to take part in the tournament, emulating former international Marjoleen Nekesa.
HB Køge Women booked their place in the league phase of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after eliminating PSV Eindhoven 2-1 on aggregate.
The Danish side entered the second leg with a narrow advantage following a 1-0 victory in the Netherlands, giving them a valuable cushion heading into the decisive encounter.
That advantage was strengthened shortly after half-time when Swedish forward Cassandra Korhonen found the breakthrough for HB Køge, putting the hosts in front on the night and further increasing PSV’s task.
The Dutch outfit refused to give up and eventually restored parity in the 63rd minute through Chimaera Ripa. The equaliser gave PSV renewed hope as they pushed aggressively for another goal that would have put the tie in their favour.
HB Køge, however, held firm during a tense closing period as PSV applied sustained pressure at Køge Idrætspark. The Danish team managed to protect the advantage secured in the opening leg and ultimately progressed with a 2-1 aggregate triumph.
The result represents a major achievement for Kristian Rasmussen’s side, who have now advanced to the league phase of Europe’s premier women’s club competition.
For PSV Eindhoven, the defeat brings an end to their Champions League qualification campaign. They will instead continue their European journey in the second qualifying round of the European Cup.

Kenya’s campaign came to an end on Monday night, August 3, 2026, following a 2-0 defeat to Algeria in the final outing of Group A in Rabat, with first-half goals from Marine Dafeur and Lynda Bendris condemning Beldine Odemba’s side to their third consecutive defeat of the tournament.
