Gor Mahia defender Frank Odhiambo teases rivals as K’Ogalo close in on 22nd league title
By Luke Oluoch, May 18, 2026Gor Mahia defender Frank Odhiambo has sent a cheeky warning to rivals that the hotly contested Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title is heading to K’Ogalo’s cabinet.
Speaking on Sunday, May 17, 2026, after their emphatic 3-1 win over Murang’a Seal at the Nyayo National Stadium, the former Sweden-based centre-back lauded the fighting spirit shown by Gor Mahia, terming it a fitting display of their title credentials.
“It was a crucial game; we knew from the start we needed to win, and we came out guns blazing. We started well but then conceded. We still had the fight in the boys and went on to win with a good margin,” he said.
Title celebrations?
Odhiambo also spoke on the celebratory mood that engulfed the Nyayo Stadium as Gor Mahia players and technical staff embarked on a lap of honour across the stadium, cheered and applauded by the ecstatic faithful.

“You can see title celebrations are almost there, but we go again for the next game against Mara Sugar. This is Gor Mahia; the 22nd league title is coming home. Keep it locked,’ he declared.
His defensive partner, Mike Kibwage, was equally full of praise for the team’s hunger in the clash. Kibwage noted that they showed they wanted the maximum points more than their opponents and deservedly came out on top.
“Experience decided the game today. We showed we wanted it more than Seal and played with calm nerves. We managed to control the game and dealt with the pressure and got the win,” he stated.
Gor’s victory followed after title rivals AFC Leopards had temporarily stretched the tense scramble for the 2026 championship into the final two matchdays after edging Kakamega Homeboyz 2-1 on Saturday, May 16, at the Mumias Sports Complex.
The outcome had piled intense pressure on K’Ogalo, who entered their Sunday fixture sitting precariously just a single point above their arch-rivals.
