Former Gor Mahia defender joins Zimbabwean outfit days after Rick Ross graced club event

Former Gor Mahia defender Joshua Onyango Owino has been unveiled at Scottland FC in Zimbabwe, just days after the ambitious Zimbabwean club hosted American rapper Rick Ross in their high-profile kit unveiling ceremony.
Onyango has been confirmed among the 11 players joining the league champions for the new season, as the club competes on both domestic and continental fronts.

“We bring to you the ELEVEN new signings for the 2026 season in which we seek to defend the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title and also take part in the CAF Champions League @CAFCL CC . The 11 new players are from all departments,” the club statement dated Tuesday, March 3, 2026, read in part.
The Kenyan defender arrives at Zimbabwe’s moneybags team, putting an end to his four-year association with Gor, where he joined from Kariobangi Sharks.
His arrival comes days after American rapper Rick Ross made a star appearance and entertained guests at the team’s lavish kit unveiling ceremony in Harare on Friday, February 27, 2026.

Love relationship with Rick Ross
Led by President Honourable Pedzai “Scott” Sakupwanya, the club has maintained a strong and amiable relationship with the American rap heavyweight.
The rapper showed major love to the club boss, saluting him and the entire squad for clinching the Zimbabwe Premier League title in their very first season.
“My brother from Zimbabwe, Scott, congratulations to you and your team Scottland FC, for winning the Premier League… Rick Ross pays homage to legendary moves,” he said in a statement shared on the club’s X page.
