FKF Premier League sides Bandari FC and Murang’a Sealboth surrendered crucial leads to drop points in Week 25 action this Sunday, March 22, 2026.
The mid-table teams were held to 1-1 draws by Mathare United and Kakamega Homeboyz, respectively.
Murang’a Seal vs Mathare United
At the San Sebastian arena in Muranga’, Michael Macharia fired Murang’a Seal into a second-half lead after being set up by Lucas Maina in the 57th minute.
However, the advantage proved short-lived as John Kamau’s Mathare United fought back.
Brian Ouru netted the equaliser, meeting a well-delivered cross to score his third league goal of the season. Ouru continues his fine form following a recent brace in the 4-1 demolition of AFC Leopards.
The result extends Mathare’s unbeaten streak, marking a steady improvement after Coach Kamau challenged his players to replicate their training ground intensity in competitive matches.
“I have always tried to be the shield for this team to take the pressure off them,” Kamau stated. “I asked them to return the favour by becoming my shield through better performances on the pitch.”
Kakamega Homeboyz vs Bandari FC
Meanwhile, at Bukhungu Stadium, visiting Bandari failed to protect a lead earned through Geoffrey Ojunga. Oliver Majaka levelled the tie for Patrick Odhiambo’s Homeboyz to ensure the points were shared.
The clash was temporarily disrupted midway through the first half when a section of fans, believed to be students from a local university, breached the stadium gates to access the terraces and watch the proceedings.
Impact on league standings
Following the draws, a tight competition for slots has been established just below the title-chasing pack, with Kakamega Homeboyz remaining in fifth place with 39 points, sitting just one point above Murang’a Seal. Bernard Mwalala’s Bandari occupy eighth on the log, while Mathare United sit in 13th.
At the summit, Gor Mahia, who edged Shaban on Saturday, are ten points above second-placed Leopards, who play an in-form Tusker FC in another clash.
