FKF Cup: BB Bread hailed for performance after knocking Gor Mahia out

BB Bread captain Joseph Tindo has spoken about the team’s strategy that proved pivotal in eliminating high-riding FKF Premier League leaders Gor Mahia.
The lower-tier side, from the Nairobi Regional League, stormed into the round of 16 of the FKF Cup after silencing Gor Mahia with a 1-0 victory in a battling performance at Nyayo National Stadium on March 8, 2026.
Substitute Denis Muthini scored the decisive goal in the 84th minute.
“The plan from our training sessions and instructions from the coach was to keep our shape and wait to capitalise on rare chances from penetrations. We got one and utilised it,” Tindo said.
He also captured the feeling around the team after extending their giant-killing sequence with another upset against a fancied top-tier opponent in Gor Mahia.
Ajstine Okoba’s side approached the clash, tails up, from the round of 64 shocker against AFC Leopards in a dramatic penalty shootout. The team remained bullish both on and off the pitch to serve up a similar upset against Gor Mahia on Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium.
“It’s an indescribable feeling. Congrats to our fans—they came out in full force and helped us get the win,” he added.
Trolls
The result compounded the blow for K’Ogalo, who had dominated possession but failed to break down the resolute defense before conceding a late 84th-minute goal to substitute Muthini.
The defeat attracted a round of trolls from rival clubs, with AFC Leopards and Shabana leading the way. The former, who also saw their quest for the Cup glory snapped by the same opponent, expressed their feelings with a laughter emoji.
Shabana got their share of the slighting of Gor Mahia with a funny brief clip.
“Mmesema kuna mkate ngumu mbele ya chai?” Tore Bobe said in a statement.
