Former Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama is among the ex-English Premier League greats set to grace a legends clash pitting his former team, Southampton FC, against Manchester United on Saturday, March 27, 2026.

The legends match is being staged as part of the South Coast club’s celebrations marking 50 years since their famous 1976 FA Cup final victory over Manchester United—a triumph that remains the Saints’ only FA Cup success. The tie is scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM.

Legends reunion

The event will also feature famed legends such as Matt Le Tissier, Sam McQueen, and Rickie Lambert, who played 235 games and scored 117 goals for Southampton. Also returning is Graziano Pellè, who famously led the line alongside Wanyama during their time at St. Mary’s.

For Manchester United, an array of former stars led by Wes Brown, Cameroonian Eric Djemba-Djemba, and Louis Saha will feature for the away team.

Wanyama joined the Saints on 11 July 2013, becoming the first Kenyan to play in the English Premier League after being signed from Celtic FC on a record transfer fee by then-manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He went on to feature for the club until 2016, anchoring the midfield during one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history.

At Saints, Wanyama established himself as one of the league’s most dominant defensive midfielders before eventually reuniting with Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur.

His statistics for the South Coast club included helping the team to a sixth-place finish, the club’s highest ever in the division, in his final season.

In September 2014, he became the first Kenyan to score in the Premier League when he was introduced in the second half and became the match-winner against Swansea City Football Club

In summer 2016, he moved to Tottenham Hotspur, where he stayed until March 2020, when he signed with Major League Soccer club Montreal Impact.

The midfielder retired from the Kenya national team in September 2021, aged 30.
