Liverpool weigh move for PSG teenager Ibrahim Mbaye

Liverpool are assessing the possibility of bringing Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) youngster Ibrahim Mbaye to Anfield as they continue their search for reinforcements on the wings.
According to Sky Sports, The Premier League club has already made enquiries about the terms of a potential transfer for the highly-rated 18-year-old, who is understood to be open to making the switch to Merseyside.
Mbaye, who is most effective on the right flank, has emerged as one of several attacking options Liverpool are considering during the current transfer window. Strengthening the wide areas has become a major objective for the Reds after the departure of Mohamed Salah.
Although Liverpool remain keen admirers of PSG forward Bradley Barcola, they have not submitted official bids for either player. Their pursuit of Mbaye is being handled separately from their interest in Barcola.
There is also a possibility that Liverpool could recruit Mbaye alongside another more experienced winger before the transfer window closes. However, PSG’s reported £145 million (Ksh25.373 billion) asking price for Barcola is viewed as a significant obstacle to completing that deal.
Liverpool’s recruitment strategy is expected to leave the club with five senior wingers once the transfer window shuts, with one of those players being a younger prospect identified for long-term development.
New head coach Andoni Iraola is believed to place considerable importance on wide attackers within his tactical approach, making the position one of the club’s biggest priorities ahead of the new campaign.
Mbaye is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young talents after progressing through PSG’s academy ranks. He broke into the French champions’ first team in August 2024, making his senior debut at just 16 years old, and has since featured 42 times for the club.
On the international stage, Mbaye represents Senegal after switching allegiance from France, where he had played at youth level. He earned his senior Senegal debut in November 2025.
The winger also wrote his name into the record books during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. At 18 years and 143 days old, he became the youngest African footballer to score at the tournament after finding the net in Senegal’s 3-1 defeat to France.
