Former Liverpool and English Premier League star Mohamed Salah agreeing to a deal with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor has sent shockwaves through Turkish football.
The deal is not official yet, but Trabzonspor has already announced that the EPL great will arrive in Istanbul to complete the transfer.
With the club confirming that the player is set to land in Turkey’s capital city, Istanbul, this Wednesday, August 5, 2026, media outlets have been glued to every development. Attention has been fixed on a private jet owned by club president Ertuğrul Doğan, which took off from Istanbul for Mykonos.

“Professional footballer Mohamed Salah, with whom we have begun transfer negotiations, will be at Istanbul Atatürk Airport General Aviation Terminal at 12:00 on Wednesday, August 5,” read part of a statement released by the club on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Major media houses have described the move as one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history—and perhaps even the undisputed number one. Salah has been enjoying time off on the Greek island of Mykonos, where the club’s private jet is slated to pick him up.

Meanwhile, discussions have grown over the financial implications of the deal for the Black Sea club, particularly given Salah’s previous weekly wages of Ksh86 million at Liverpool.
Speaking in an interview with HT Sport, Trabzonspor head coach Fatih Tekke hinted at what the potential transfer means for the club’s ambitions:
“There is nothing official yet regarding Salah. Being linked with a name like Salah is incredibly valuable for Trabzonspor. But instead of generating hype through talk, we are working to build trust through our actions on the pitch.
