Tottenham Hotspur head into the final day of the Premier League season facing the real danger of relegation, with their long-standing stay in the top flight hanging by a thread. There are several possible outcomes involving Spurs and West Ham, but only one combination would see Tottenham drop into the Championship, a home defeat to Everton coupled with a West Ham victory over Leeds United on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The survival equation is straightforward for Roberto De Zerbi’s side. Victory over Everton guarantees safety, while even a draw should be enough because Spurs possess a much healthier goal difference than West Ham. The Hammers, however, must win and hope Tottenham lose to preserve their Premier League status. If both clubs are beaten, Tottenham would still survive.

Despite the odds heavily favouring Spurs staying up, nerves continue to grow among supporters due to the team’s dreadful home form. Tottenham have failed to win any of their last 10 league matches at home and have managed just two home victories all season, turning the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium into a tense and uneasy venue.

The decline has been dramatic. Earlier in the campaign, Tottenham comfortably defeated Everton 3-0 and were sitting third in the table, only five points behind leaders Arsenal. Since then, the club has spiralled downward, changing managers three times, suffering six straight defeats for the first time in its history, and enduring a 15-game winless streak in the league.

Arsenal’s party, Guardiola’s good bye

Meanwhile, Arsenal supporters are preparing for celebrations after securing the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years. Mikel Arteta’s side will receive a guard of honour from Crystal Palace before captain Martin Odegaard lifts the trophy following the match at Selhurst Park. The atmosphere in north London could become even sweeter for Arsenal fans if Tottenham are relegated on the same afternoon.

At the Etihad Stadium, the spotlight will be on Pep Guardiola as he prepares to say goodbye to Manchester City after a remarkable decade in charge. Although City’s clash with Aston Villa carries little importance in terms of league standings, emotions are expected to dominate the occasion as fans honour one of the Premier League’s greatest managers. Guardiola leaves behind a legacy packed with trophies and unforgettable moments, with the club already preparing for a new era.

West Ham, meanwhile, are hoping for a miracle in their bid to avoid relegation. Their task is simple, beat Leeds and pray Tottenham slip up against Everton. The Hammers have flirted with danger for much of the season, and relegation could trigger a major rebuild involving a new manager and significant squad changes.

Salah and Robertson’s departure

Liverpool also face an emotional afternoon as Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson could make their final appearances for the club against Brentford. Although Liverpool are close to securing Champions League qualification, speculation surrounding the futures of several key players and questions about Arne Slot’s leadership continue to dominate discussions at Anfield.

Elsewhere, Brighton are chasing European football ahead of their meeting with Manchester United, while Sunderland hope to finish above rivals Newcastle United. Bournemouth, meanwhile, still have an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League, depending on results elsewhere, as Andoni Iraola prepares for his final match in charge.

At Craven Cottage, uncertainty surrounds Marco Silva’s future at Fulham amid reports linking him with Benfica, while Burnley and Wolves will battle to avoid finishing bottom of the table after already suffering relegation.

With title celebrations, emotional farewells, European qualification races, and a tense relegation battle all unfolding at once, the Premier League’s final day promises drama across every corner of the table.
