Charlton boss Nathan Jones lauds Collins Sichenje’s Kenyan athletic heritage
By Luke Oluoch, February 5, 2026Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has spoken highly of the club’s new addition, Collins Sichenje, lauding his early days of adapting to life at the London club.
Speaking to the club portal on Thursday, February 5, 2025, Jones revealed his surprise at how Sichenje typically exhibited the heritage associated with Kenyan athletes.
“He is up to speed: he had a preseason with his team. He is a super athlete, as you would expect from his Kenyan heritage,” he said in an interview about the player’s first few days at the club.

Jones additionally stated that although it would take the former Serbia-based defender time to adapt to his new league, his integration to the team will be a quick one based on the attributes he possesses.
“He will take time to adapt to the English Championship and the football, but we are happy. He is aggressive and front-footed and technically very good. Which are very good attributes,” he added.

Sichenje joined Charlton on Monday, February 2, 2026, after signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with the London-based club from Serbian SuperLiga side FK Vojvodina.
Speaking afterwards, the chuffed-up 22-year-old former Ingwe player expressed his elation to start a new career in London.
