Casemiro pays tribute to Manchester United fans in emotional farewell address
Brazilian midfielder Carlos Henrique Casemiro paid an emotional tribute to the Manchester United family on Sunday, bidding an official farewell to a packed Old Trafford after playing his final home match for the club.
The veteran midfielder, who recently confirmed he will be leaving United at the end of the season, was full of praise for the supporters, describing them as the very best part of the club.
Fans: the best thing about United
“I will start with a thank you to everyone—the players, the staff, and everyone else. Thank you all, but the best thing about this club is you, the fans,” Casemiro stated, drawing a resounding round of applause throughout the stadium.
His post-match sentiments mirrored a glowing tribute he shared on social media ahead of kickoff, where he thanked the United faithful for the memories they shared since his arrival from Real Madrid on August 22, 2022.
“Thank you for everything. I am very happy. I enjoy this club, I enjoy this stadium, and I will never forget my song [from the stands],” Casemiro wrote. “Manchester United lives in my heart. Thank you very much, not just from me but from the Casemiro family.”
Carrick era and Old Trafford final
The burly Brazilian has been central to Manchester United’s recent turnaround under Michael Carrick. Casemiro leveraged his steely approach, veteran leadership, and warrior spirit to anchor the midfield, qualities that deeply endeared him to the United fanbase during his four-year stay.
Casemiro’s emotional lap of honour with his family was part of a series of post-match activities lined up at Old Trafford, which included a stadium address from manager Michael Carrick.

In his speech to the crowd, Carrick also expressed his gratitude to the fans, acknowledging their unwavering support in helping him steer the club to new heights following a challenging start to the season under former manager Rúben Amorim.
“I want to say a massive thank you for the season. It’s unbelievable to always see this place full,” he said.
While looking forward to leading the club as the permanent head coach, he exuded optimism that the club would be able to continue the good times witnessed during his interim tenure.
“We have had some unbelievable moments, big goals, and big results in this stadium over the last few months, and hopefully, there will be a few more of them! Take care and have a good summer.”
