Carrick sends passionate message to Manchester United fraternity ahead of new season
Manchester United’s new head coach, Michael Carrick, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the fans and club fraternity following an emphatic 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.
The Englishman took charge of the team’s final home game of the season just a day after signing a two-year contract to become the permanent head coach starting next season. Carrick had initially returned to the club as interim manager following the sacking of Ruben Amorim on January 6, 2026.
Since then, he has been central to United’s turnaround, winning 11 of his 15 games in charge.
Reflecting on his tenure and a brilliant campaign that saw United secure third place and Champions League football with a game to spare, Carrick attributed the extraordinary feat to the unwavering enthusiasm of the Red Devils faithful.

“I want to say a massive thank you for the season. It’s unbelievable to always see this place full,” he said.
While looking forward to leading the club as the permanent head coach, he exuded optimism that the fans will be able to continue the good times witnessed during his interim tenure.
“We have had some unbelievable moments, big goals, and big results in this stadium over the last few months, and hopefully, there will be a few more of them! Take care and have a good summer,” he added.
