Brace-hero Shikangwa shines as Kenyan internationals clash in Dar Derby
Simba Queens and Harambee Starlets goal poacher Jentrix Shikangwa Milimo was the hero of the match as Simba Queens silenced arch-rivals Yanga Princess in a thrilling Dar Women’s Derby clash this Friday, May 15, 2026.
Shikangwa notched a brilliant first-half brace to put Juma Mgosi’s side on course for a massive three points and derby bragging rights.
The high-stakes encounter also featured Harambee Starlets defender Wincate Kaari starting for the opponents, while her compatriot Lydia Akoth “Ozil” settled for a place on the Yanga bench.
Yanga Princess struggled to contain the Shikangwa-led onslaught in the opening half but adjusted well after the break, launching a spirited fightback that ultimately fell just short.
Aquino skippers Simba Queens
Simba Queens were skippered by Vivian Corazone Aquino, who controlled the hosts’ midfield. Alongside her, Elizabeth Wambui and Fasila Adhiambo provided the offensive threat, while centre-back Ruth Ingosi masterfully marshalled the defensive line.

Shikangwa opened the scoring in the 18th minute, stabbing home a brilliant finish after the Yanga defense failed to clear a loose ball in the box.
She doubled the advantage just before the breather, leaving two defenders for dead with a spectacular turn before firing past goalkeeper Rita Okraknow to put clear daylight between Simba and the visitors.
Ritticia Nabbosa halved the deficit for Yanga in the 58th minute, converting from a set-piece following a foul just outside the penalty area.
Despite the goal setting up a tense finale at a well-attended Azam Complex in Chamazi, the hosts held their nerves to see out the victory and seal a season double over their rivals.
Treble hunt
Most importantly, the victory puts Simba Queens firmly in the driving seat for the league title, extending their lead at the top of the standings to 46 points—seven points clear of Yanga Princess and JKT Queens.
The vital win keeps the Msimbazi-based side firmly on track for a historic season treble, as they also remain heavily in contention for the CRDB Federation Cup.
