Harambee Starlets players reclaim Tanzania league champions crown with Simba Queens

The Harambee Starlets contingent at Simba Queens has been officially crowned as the new league champions in Tanzania.
The Kenyan contingent, comprising Corazone Aquino, Ruth Ingosi, Jentrix Shikangwa, Cynthia Shilwatso, and midfield duo Elizabeth Wambui and Fasila Adhiambo, was presented with the league trophy on Saturday, June 13, 2026, as a historic season concluded in the East African nation.
Corazone, the club’s vice-captain, was tasked with lifting the trophy alongside skipper Fatuma Issa, marking the club’s sixth title in the span of the last ten years.
The Msimbazi-based side officially clinched the title on May 31, 2026, following a 5-2 victory over Mashujaa Queens at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, sealing the crown with two games to spare.
Additionally, the side maintained an 11-match unbeaten run as part of their dominant march to the championship.

The triumph sealed a maiden Tanzanian league title for Starlets ace Fasila Adhiambo, who moved to the club from Kenya. The heavy Kenyan presence proved vital throughout the campaign.
Ruth Ingosi was a rock at the back, anchoring the defense alongside Fatuma Issa, while at the centre of the park, vice-captain Aquino and Elizabeth Wambui also made their mark with impressive performances.

Speaking on the success, Elizabeth Wambui shared the secrets behind the fine season that culminated in the league title safely returning to the Msimbazi Reds after they lost it to JKT Queens in the 2024/25 season.
“We decided from day one that we wanted to reclaim our championship. The team displayed unique togetherness, and we worked as a unit en route to winning these games. We are grateful for the support from our fans, leaders, and everyone,” Wambui said.
By virtue of their triumph, Simba Queens have now secured a ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal qualifiers.
