Blow for Shabana as talisman Brian Michira set for spells on the sidelines
By Luke Oluoch, May 6, 2026Shabana FC is set to be without the services of midfield lynchpin Brian Michira, who will miss the club’s upcoming fixtures following a significant injury setback.
The Glamour Boys confirmed that Michira has suffered a tibialis posterior muscle tear.
While the club has not yet provided a specific recovery timeline, the injury, which affects the muscle supporting the medial arch of the foot and ankle, is a major blow to the Kisii-based side.
Injury update
“Quick Recovery Millionaire Brian Michira Migiro. You are a fighter and you will come back stronger,” the club’s official medical update read on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Michira’s layoff comes at a difficult time for Shabana. The attacking midfielder has been in sensational form despite a recent dip in the team’s overall performance in both the FKF Premier League and the FKF Cup.
His most recent contribution came in the league clash against Kakamega Homeboyz, where he provided a sublime assist for Assis Mambote.

In the 30th minute of that match, Michira took the ball in his stride before setting up Mambote with a perfectly weighted dinked pass. Despite the team’s 1-0 defeat to Kenya Police FC on Sunday, May 3, 2026, Michira remains the club’s leading goalscorer for the 2025/26 campaign.
Shabana’s final push
Shabana currently sits fifth in the standings with 47 points. They are scheduled to return to league action this weekend, hosting Ulinzi Stars at the Gusii County Stadium.
The match kickoff is set for 2:00 pm.
This match marks the beginning of the final five-game stretch for the Glamour Boys. Their remaining fixtures include:
- Ulinzi Stars (H)
- Mara Sugar (A—Postponed fixture)
- Sofapaka
- Bidco United
- KCB (Season Finale)
Without their star playmaker, the pressure will be on the rest of the squad to secure a strong finish to what has been a competitive season.
Shabana FC finished the 2024/2025 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League season in 5th position with 53 points, concluding their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars at Gusii Stadium in June 2025. The team achieved this top-five finish in their second season back in the top flight, finishing two points above AFC Leopards
