Bidco United’s coach slams referee after Gor Mahia’s last-minute win

By , January 24, 2026

Bidsco United coach Anthony Akhulia has decried a lengthy spell of added minutes during his team’s 2-1 defeat to Gor Mahia on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Speaking after suffering the crushing late defeat inflicted by Paul Ochuoga’s added-time goal, Akhulia heaped the loss squarely on the referee’s decisions to allow such a lengthy spell.

“Adding nine minutes in a match like this raises a big question: what exactly was happening throughout the entire game? Were the players just sleeping on the pitch, or what was going on before?” He posed.

“It is as if we were not on the pitch playing. Five minutes or a maximum of six could have been justified,” he added.

Time-wasting antics

The coach also refuted assertions that his charges had elected to employ time-wasting tactics that could have warranted the duration of time awarded for extra minutes that Gor Mahia used to turn the game on its head.

“I don’t think we wasted any time during the game. The minutes he added were to allow Gor Mahia to score,” he restated.

“To me, he merely waited until Gor Mahia scored the winner,” he said.

K’Ogalo, who led proceedings with 33 points after 16 games, fell behind 1-0 to 15th-placed Bidco United when Brian Mboya nodded home unmarked in the 35th minute.

Ochuoga snatches it

A surreal moment of nine added extra minutes saw the emboldened Gor Mahia going for Bidco’s jugular with late forays.

The hosts’ resolve was curtailed late on with Ochuoga scoring from close range to steal the maximum points and avenge the first-leg loss suffered against the side.

With the win, Gor Mahia extended their point haul to 36, with Leopards, who next play Sofapaka, remaining second on 33.

Shabana frustrated in Kericho

Elsewhere, Shabana FC threw away a two-goal lead to settle for a 3-3 draw with APS Bomet.

Tore Bobe failed to capitalise on a two-goal lead in the final quarter, allowing Sammy Omollo’s charges to strike back and snatch a valuable point on home turf.

Philip Wasai and Lawrence Kibet scored in the space of six minutes to see APS Bomet snatch a crucial point from a losing position.

Shabana’s only bright spot in the match was their brace-hero Ugandan Brian Olega and his namesake, Brian Michira, who joined the goal-scoring fest with a superb strike following his return from an injury layoff.
