AFC Leopards issue Nyayo Stadium access guidelines for Mashemeji Derby

The clash, scheduled for Sunday, April 26, 2026, will kick off at 3:00 pm local time, with gates opening early to accommodate the expected large turnout for one of Kenya’s fiercest football rivalries.
Designated entry gates
Supporters have been directed to use specific gates based on their team affiliation:
Fans of AFC Leopards will access the stadium through Gate 7 and Gate 8, located along Uhuru Highway.
Gor Mahia supporters have been assigned Gate 2 and Gate 3, accessible via Lang’ata Road.
VIP and VVIP ticket holders will enter through Gate A, situated along Douglas Wakiihuri Aerodrome Road.
The club has emphasised that fans should strictly adhere to these gate allocations to enhance security and minimize congestion around the stadium.
Early access encouraged
Stadium gates will open between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, giving supporters ample time to arrive, undergo security checks, and settle in before kickoff. Organisers are urging fans to arrive early to avoid last-minute rushes that could lead to delays.
In a crucial advisory, fans have been warned that no tickets will be sold at the stadium on matchday. All attendees must secure their tickets in advance through designated platforms to gain entry.
With the derby expected to draw massive crowds, the guidelines are part of broader efforts by AFC Leopards and stakeholders to ensure safety, order, and an enjoyable experience for all attendees. Based on the nature of Mashemeji Derby, traffic disruptions are also expected across all roads leading to Sunday’s match venue.
Routes to Nyayo
However, to the rescue of football lovers heading to Nyayo for the mouth-watering encounter, Leopards have mapped out multiple access points across Nairobi, urging fans from different parts of the city to converge at the historical venue for the derby showdown, with security plans already in place to ensure match safety.
Supporters travelling from the Central Business District can use Kenyatta Avenue, connecting to Uhuru Highway, which leads directly to the stadium. Those coming from Nairobi West can access the venue via Lang’ata Road or Aerodrome Road, while fans from Lang’ata are guided to follow Lang’ata Road straight to Nyayo.
For fans approaching from the eastern side of the city, Mombasa Road provides a direct route through the Nyayo junction or roundabout. Similarly, supporters from South B and South C are encouraged to use Mombasa Road or Popo Road to reach the stadium with ease.
