TikToker pleads guilty to offensive conduct charge over George Ruto video

A TikToker by the name of Hesbon Mauti Thomas has pleaded guilty to a charge where he is accused of asking to strangle George Ruto and pay his parents Ksh2 million.

Appearing before Milimani Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Mauti has accepted that indeed he uttered the said words on June 25, 2026.

According to the charge sheet, the accused made the remarks through his TikTok account with a username of PROVIDENT@bonifaceaminga.

“On June 25, 2026, at an unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, while using your TikTok account namely PROVIDENT@bonifacaminga, you posted a video clip of yourself in which you altered words…” part of the charge sheet reads.

The prosecution has charged the accused with offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace contrary to section 94(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 63 of the Laws of Kenya.

Magistrate Onsarigo has directed that the matter be mentioned tomorrow, Friday, July 31, 2026, for fact-reading of the offence to the accused person.

“The matter will be mentioned tomorrow, Friday, July 31, 2026, for facts-reading at 10:30 am,” Magistrate Onsarigo directed.
