Sunday blackout to affect parts of 6 counties
Kenya Power has announced that parts of six counties will experience a planned blackout on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
In a notice issued on Saturday, December 20, 2025, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the temporary disruption.

In Machakos County, areas along Mombasa Road, including Game Ranch, Mall World, Primarosa, Safaricom, and surrounding locations, will experience electricity interruptions from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Residents and businesses in Molongo, including Beijing Road, Greatwall Apartments, Kuthci Road, Allpack Industries, Blowplast, Sanden, and nearby customers, will also be affected during the same hours.
In Kajiado County, the whole of Acacia and nearby areas, including Deliverance Road, St. Liliana, Baraka Road, Balozi Road, Tropican, Ingwe, Chuna, Safaricom branches one and two, Muigai, Police Sacco, Ideal, parts of Mugai, Enkasiti Resort, Exotic Peninah, Maasai Ostrich Farm, Riverine, Global Village, Alexander Forbes, Lake Oil Korompoi, Marvel Green, Succos, Kajiado East Technical, Kwa Monica Juma, Archichem, Antilog, Jumbo Tank, Surge, Kreative Concrete, Moran Wires, Tuffoam, Zenith Steel, Imara Steel, Kenturain, and Eden Park will be without electricity from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Parts of Bomet County, including Bomet Township, Tenwek Hospital, Siongiroi Market, Silibwet Market, Kapkwen, Sigor, Longisa, Mulot, Motigo Tea Factory, Stegro Tea Factory, Green Fields, Kisiet Tea Factory, and surrounding areas, will experience power cuts from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Narok County, residents and businesses in Narok Township and several surrounding markets, including Eor-Ekule Market, Ntulele Market, Nenkare Market, Dukamoja Market, Suswa Market, Kojonga Market, Lotian Market, Kisiriri Market, Olkirikirai Market, Tipis Market, Enengetia Market, Ewaso Ngiro Market, Ngoswani Market, Majimoto Market, Naikara Market, Oloraimutia Market, Nkoilale Market, Sekenani Market, Talek Market, Narosora Market, Entasekera Market, Katakala Market, Ololunga Market, Oleshapani Market, Olmegenyu Market, Sogoo Market, Tendwet Market, Nkorinkori Market, KDF Camp Nkorinkori, Lemek Market, Aitong Market, Ratili Centre, Mulot Market, and Baraka Market, will face outages from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
In Uasin Gishu County, power will be temporarily unavailable in areas including Rivatex, Kipkaren Estate, and Baharini, affecting Kipkaren Estate, Kipkaren Seventh Day Adventist Church, Baharini, and adjacent customers from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Finally, in Kisumu County, residents and businesses in Ombeyi, including Ombeyi School, Ombeyi Market, Ramula Primary School, Onyalo Biro, Keyo Primary School, Yawo Primary School, and Kango Primary School, will experience electricity interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
