Saturday weather outlook: Kenya Met forecasts rain across several counties
By William Muthama, September 26, 2026The Kenya Meteorological Service has forecast rainfall across several parts of the country as Kenyans head into the weekend.
In its seven-day rainfall outlook covering September 22 to 28, 2026, the weather agency said rain is expected mainly over the Coast, Northeastern, Western, Central and parts of the Rift Valley regions.
“Rainfall is expected over several parts of the country, especially over the Coast, Northeastern, Western, Central and parts of the Rift Valley regions,” Kenya Met said in an update shared on X.
Counties expected to receive rain
The agency listed several counties expected to experience rainfall during the forecast period.
They include Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, Marsabit, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Kitui, Makueni, Narok and Baringo.
Other counties listed include Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, Nakuru, Nandi, Nyamira, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Vihiga, among other localised areas.
Rainfall across regions
The Coast, Northeastern, Western, Central and parts of the Rift Valley are expected to record rainfall during the seven-day period.
Nairobi is also among the counties listed in the outlook, meaning residents in the capital could experience rainfall during the forecast period.
Kenya Met said the rainfall would occur in different areas and at varying intensities, with localised conditions possible.
The agency’s outlook covers September 22 to 28, with residents encouraged to follow subsequent weather updates as conditions evolve.
Temperatures to vary
The weather outlook also points to significant temperature differences across the country.
Daytime average maximum temperatures above 30°C are expected in parts of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit and Turkana.
Meanwhile, night-time minimum temperatures below 10°C are forecast in parts of Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nakuru, Narok, Taita-Taveta and Kajiado.
The weather department continues to advise residents to follow updated forecasts as conditions may vary at the county and local level.
