Religious leaders speak in tongues while praying for Governor Wamatangi’s demolished business premises

The Kiambu Clergy Pastors Forum has thrown its weight behind Governor Kimani Wamatangi following the demolition of his property near Nyayo Stadium.

The pastors appeared at the site on Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2026, holding fervent prayers and speaking in tongues as they expressed their disappointment over the incident.

Speaking to journalists, the forum’s General Secretary, Prince Eliud, criticised the demolition, saying it was a blow to the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans.

“We are very disappointed because what has been destroyed is people’s property,” Eliud said.

Adding;

“People in Kenya are crying every day. They do not have homes, they are jobless, and businesses are not doing well. What has been destroyed is a business which people depended on for a living. Where will they go now?”

He added that the timing of the demolition was particularly cruel, as children are returning to school and many families relied on the business for income.

“Our children are going back to school, and this business was the source of living for those who worked here,” Eliud said.

The clergy forum argued that the demolition contradicted the spirit of national prayers and unity.

“We pray for our country every day to move forward. But this is not going forward; it is backwardness. Instead of creating jobs, we are destroying the little that is there.”

Governor Wamatangi also shared his personal experience, emphasising that his rise was through hard work and not politics. He recounted starting out as a young boy in 1994, selling tea and mandazi on the streets.

Over time, he gradually built his business, washing cars and eventually moving into car sales, before venturing into the transport sector.
