A Nairobi High Court has deferred the plea taking for Kithuka Kimuyi Musyimi, a person of interest in the murder of a GSU officer, Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, at one of the State House Gates on October 13, 2025.

Kithuka has been in remand since October 14, 2025, when he was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts for a miscellaneous application in connection with the murder of officer Khamisi on October 13, 2025, as he was manning a search barrier along Dennis Pritt Road near Statehouse gate D.

Lady Justice Diana Kavedza has, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, postponed the plea taking again after the court heard that his mental assessment is not yet ready.

Mental assessment report

Meanwhile, Judge Kavedza has directed the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) to release Kithuka’s mental assessment report that will lead the court on whether he is in sound mind to plead to murder charges.

“I direct that the Kenyatta National Hospital hands over the mental assessment results for Kithuka, and the matter has been rescheduled to February 9, 2026,” Judge Kavedza ruled.

According to court papers, Musyimi was arrested near the Statehouse gate D while armed with a bow and arrows that had been concealed in a blue sack, posing as a street dweller advancing towards a GSU officer manning the search barrier.

Through a supporting affidavit, the investigating officer attached at the Kilimani Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Bashir Boya, states that Musyimi attacked the GSU officer by shooting him with an arrow on his left chest, which led to massive bleeding.

The application also reveals that the officer was immediately rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for treatment, but he later succumbed to injury while undergoing treatment.

“The respondent (Musyimi) shot and injured the officer who was on duty, causing him serious injuries on the left side of his chest that resulted in massive bleeding,” part of the application read.

The matter has been postponed to February 9, 2026.
