Parts of Nairobi, Kisumu to be affected by 8-hour blackout on Friday, September 18, 2026

Kenya Power has announced planned power maintenance that will affect parts of five counties on Friday, September 18, 2026.

In a notice issued on Thursday, September 17, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled maintenance will result in temporary power interruptions in selected areas of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu, Nyeri and Meru counties.

Customers in the affected areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the planned outages.

Nairobi county

In Nairobi, the planned maintenance will affect Mountain View Estate from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The interruption will affect Waiyaki Way, Mountain View Estate, Thiongo Road, Marenga Road and adjacent customers.

“Nairobi Region: Mountain View Estate. Date: Friday, September 18, 2026. Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Affected areas include Waiyaki Way, Mountain View Estate, Thiongo Road, Marenga Road and adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.

Kajiado and Kisumu counties

In Kajiado County, Kenya Power has scheduled maintenance in Matasia, Oloika and Nkoroi from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Kamura, Oloika, Nkoroi, Arap Moi, St. Nicholas, parts of Matasia and adjacent customers.

In Kisumu County, the scheduled maintenance will affect Ridge Park Estate from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kenya Power said customers in Ridge Park Estate and adjacent areas will experience a temporary interruption during the maintenance period.

Nyeri and Meru counties

In Nyeri County, power maintenance is scheduled in Nyaithee Village from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Nyaithee Village, Nyaithee Primary School, Nyaithee Coffee Factory, Githiru and adjacent customers.

In Meru County, Kenya Power will carry out maintenance in Kiguchwa, Githu and Amungaa from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Mucuune, Maliolo, St. Stephen Primary School, St. Benedict Primary School, Kiguchwa Primary and Secondary Schools, Kiguchwa Shopping Centre, Kiguchwa Safaricom, KK Mwethe Primary School, Kaliene Secondary School, Ametho Boarding, St. Lucy Kirigwa, Ankamia Mixed Day Secondary School, Ankamia Primary School, Ngutu Shopping Centre, Miurine Secondary School, Karurune Village, Gachuuru Market, Githu Market, Githu Mixed Secondary School, Kiarau, Irindiro Secondary School, Kieni TBC, Amungaa and Murichia Coffee Factory, as well as adjacent customers.
