Nairobi Water issues urgent disconnection notice for Utawala residents ahead of August 28 deadline

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company issued a formal customer notice on Thursday, August 27, 2026, warning that a mass disconnection exercise will target all accounts with outstanding balances.
The municipal utility provider stated that customers who fail to clear their arrears before the deadline will not only lose access to water services but will also be required to pay additional reconnection charges to restore supply.
How to check account status and make payments
To make the clearance process seamless, Nairobi Water has instructed customers to verify their bill status using their mobile phones by dialing USSD code *260#.
Once the bill amount is confirmed, payments should be remitted directly through the official M-Pesa Paybill number 444400 or through any authorised payment partners recognised by the utility provider.
For inquiries, bill disputes, or further clarification regarding accounts, Nairobi Water has established dedicated customer service channels for the area.
