Nairobi County’s Head of the Customer Care Department, Geoffrey Mosiria, has expressed optimism that Kenya is poised to surpass Singapore in attracting tourists and international attention for benchmarking.

In a post on Facebook on Saturday, December 20, 2025, Mosiria credited ongoing local initiatives and government efforts for improving the country’s appeal.

“Very soon Kenya will be better than Singapore, and we shall attract many tourists and foreigners for benchmarking,” he wrote.

He highlighted the recent suspension of the U.S. green card lottery by President Donald Trump as an opportunity for Kenyans to focus on building opportunities at home.

We shall build our USA hapa nyumbani. If it’s our problems, tunazisolve pamoja hapa hapa,” he added.

Mosiria urged Kenyans to take pride in local development efforts. He emphasized that skilled workers and proper foundations are already being put in place to ensure sustainable growth.

“Mafundi wa kujenga Kenya ni sisi, na msidharau foundation ishawekwa,” he stated.

Focusing on the capital city, Mosiria praised the ongoing restoration of Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD). He noted that the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and public spaces have already begun to draw tourists. “Order inarudi, mazingira yanaboreshwa, na tourists wameanza kuingia jiji. Wanapiga picha, wanashangaa, na wengine wanauliza, ‘Is this really Nairobi?’” he remarked.

In addition, Mosiria directed a message to government employees, urging them to serve citizens with integrity and diligence. He stressed that public servants should avoid corrupt practices and prioritize restoring confidence in government institutions.

“Government employees, please serve people diligently without asking for bribe. Hudumieni wananchi kwa uadilifu na heshima,” he said.

Mosiria’s vision for Kenya is one of self-reliance and accountability. He called on citizens to tackle challenges and celebrate progress together.

Tukule shida na raha pamoja majamaa. Hakuna kukimbia, hakuna shortcuts. USA yetu tutaijenga hapa Kenya,” he concluded.

Kenya’s dream to reach Singapore-level development has been popularized by President William Ruto, who on many occasions has outlined the country’s ambition to move to first-world status. According to Ruto, the “Road to Singapore” initiative, backed by a KSh 5 trillion plan, will be halfway there by 2026.
