Mosiria: Mother rescued from drug addiction and pneumonia at City Hall reunites with her children
Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has announced that after seven years apart, Martha Esther Njoki, a mother rescued from the streets last year, has been reunited with her two children.
In a statement on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Mosiria revealed that Esther Njoki was found in a critical state, suffering from drug addiction and pneumonia, and was immediately taken to a rehabilitation centre for urgent care.
I am proud to say she fully committed herself to change and has shown incredible strength and determination in transforming her life.
“During her recovery, she asked me to help her find her children. She had even forgotten the name of the children’s home where they had been placed, so the search was not easy. We spent considerable time gathering any information that could lead us to them. Today, we finally got a hint that led us to the home,” he stated.
Further, he revealed that he reunion, which took place at the children’s home, was profoundly emotional.

“I took her there, and for the first time in over seven years, she saw her two young boys. It was an emotional and unforgettable moment. The boys were completely shocked they had believed their mother had died long ago. Seeing them reunite, talk, and begin bonding again touched everyone present. The home’s management was also very happy to witness the reunion.”
While Martha completes her rehabilitation, arrangements have been made for regular visits to allow her to bond with her children.
\Additionally, Mosiria revealed that support is also being provided to help her secure employment and stable accommodation so she can rebuild her life with dignity and provide for her family.

“Today marked not just a reunion, but a fresh start a new chapter filled with healing, hope, and the beautiful promise of a family finally coming back together,” he added.
