Ministry of Defence shortlists candidates for civilian positions, releases interview details
By Dan Kauna, August 6, 2026The Ministry of Defence has completed shortlisting candidates for civilian job openings advertised late last year, opening the door for successful applicants to move to the interview stage.
In an official notice published on August 6, 2026, the military announced that evaluating applications for the civilian posts had come to an end.
“The Ministry of Defence wishes to notify the general public that the shortlisting process for vacancies advertised on 30 December 2025 has been completed,” the ministry stated in a post on X.
Shortlisted positions and how to check your status
The notice attached to the announcement details two civilian job cadres within the ministry.
The first position is Garden Assistants, categorised under Civil Service Grade (CSG) 15 with Advert Number 1/2025, which accounts for 30 vacant posts.
The second category covers Support Staff/Sanitary Cleaner roles under CSG 16 with Advert Number 2/2025, featuring 15 open positions.
Kenyans who submitted application forms following the December 30, 2025, advertisement can now confirm whether their names made the final shortlist.
The ministry has uploaded the full list of shortlisted individuals on its official website, www.mod.go.ke. Job seekers are advised to visit the portal to verify their names alongside the exact dates and times assigned for their respective interview sessions.
Interview venue, required documents
Shortlisted candidates will report for physical interviews at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Ulinzi House, along Lenana Road in Nairobi. The ministry specified that each candidate must show up strictly on the specific day and time indicated against their name in the published schedule.
To participate in the interview process, applicants must present original copies of three essential personal documents. These include a National Identity Card, academic and professional certificates, and relevant testimonials. Candidates must present these items to the interviewing panel during verification.
The Ministry of Defence also cautioned job seekers against recruitment malpractice. Any form of canvassing or trying to influence the hiring process will lead to automatic disqualification.
Members of the public and candidates are further urged to report any incidents of bribery, fraud, or corrupt practices directly to publicaffairs@mod.go.ke.
