Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Sunday, July 19
By Paulette Mboga, July 18, 2026Kenya Power has announced a planned power interruption that will affect parts of Nairobi on Sunday, July 19, 2026, as maintenance work continues on its electricity network.
The utility company said the scheduled outage is part of routine operations aimed at improving service and asked customers in the affected areas to plan.
In a notice issued ahead of the maintenance on Saturday, July 18, 2026, Kenya Power said the planned outage will take place between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. The company also apologised for any inconvenience that may be caused during the exercise.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (19th July, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” Kenya Power said.
According to the notice, the affected area in Nairobi Region will be part of Nanyuki Road. Customers in the listed locations should expect electricity supply to be interrupted during the maintenance period.

The areas expected to be affected include National Oil, part of Nanyuki Road, Runyenjes Road, Kenya Pipeline Company, Tanga Road, Kenya Railway Station, Darling, Mombasa Maize Millers, Highlights, Ashut Engineering, Timber, Railway Yard, Likoni Road, Stores, City Radiators, Londiani Road, Minute Maid and nearby customers.

Kenya Power normally issues advance notices before carrying out planned maintenance. However, the company has explained that unexpected blackouts may still happen because of faults or other emergencies affecting the power network.
The company encourages customers to report any unplanned outages so that they can receive assistance and updates. Prompt reporting also helps technical teams identify faults and restore electricity as quickly as possible.
Customers experiencing an unscheduled blackout can contact the Kenya Power customer care centre by calling the toll-free number 97771. The company also allows customers to report faults through its official WhatsApp number, 0745 777 777.
