Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Monday, July 6
By William Muthama, July 5, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions affecting parts of Murang’a County on Monday, July 6, 2026, to allow for routine maintenance works.
In a notice issued to customers on Sunday, July 5, 2026, the utility firm said the outages will all run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting several customers across selected markets, villages and public facilities.
“Good afternoon, our esteemed customers. Please find attached the power interruptions dated 06/07/2026. ^HM,” Kenya Power stated.
Ithe Kahuno, Gititu, Kiaraho
In the first cluster, areas set to be affected include Ithe Kahuno, Gititu and Kiaraho.
Residents in Gititu Primary School, Ithe Kahuno Market and Factory, Muthoka Village, Culvert, Nyaith ee, Karo, Kiaraho, Maingirano and Gathungo will experience interruptions during the maintenance period.

Kenya Power said the exercise will also impact adjacent customers within the supply line.
Gathugu Market Area
The second area scheduled for power interruption is Gathugu Market and its surroundings.
Affected customers include Kagumo-ini Coffee, Kiamabara Dispensary, Gathugu Market, Gathugu Coffee Factory, Iharu, Gaiti, Mount Carmel Secondary School, and Kagumo-ini Water Pump.
Other areas expected to be affected are Gathagana, Safaricom boosters, Airtel boosters and nearby customers connected to the network.

Kenya Power said the planned outage is part of its ongoing maintenance programme aimed at improving service reliability and stabilising supply across the region.
