Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Wednesday, May 20
Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, affecting several parts of the country as part of routine network maintenance.
In a public notice on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the utility company said the maintenance will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Good evening. The listed area will be affected by planned power interruptions tomorrow (20th May 2026). The interruption is part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power announced.
Affected areas
According to the advisory, the planned blackout will affect parts of the Nairobi region, including Nyangumi and Lenana Road areas, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected locations include Lenana Road, Kasuku Road, Nyangumi Road, Yaya Centre, Timau Road, Mtito Andei Road, Mukuyu Lane, Jabavu Road, Thetha Lane, and nearby customers.

In the North Rift Region, parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience interruptions within the same time frame. Areas affected include Chepkoiyo, Kesses, Ngecheck, Ndubuneti, Mukombozi, Lelmokwo, and Lelboinet, among others.

In the Coast Region, parts of Kwale County will also be affected. The blackout will impact Lungalunga and Vanga areas, including Horohoro, Kenyaloma, Vanga, Mwangwei, and surrounding customers.
“Coast region: parts of Kwale County, areas Lungalunga, Vanga, Lungalunga, Horohoro, Kenyaloma, Vanga, Mwangwei & adjacent customers. Date: Wednesday, 20.05.2026 Time: 9.00 Α.Μ. – 5.00 Ρ.Μ.,” the utility company announced.
According to Kenya Power, the interruptions are necessary to facilitate network maintenance and improve service delivery.
