Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Tuesday, June 9
By William Muthama, June 8, 2026Kenya Power has announced a planned power blackout that will affect parts of Uasin Gishu and Bungoma counties on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
In a power maintenance notice issued on Monday, June 8, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled interruption is necessary to facilitate network maintenance and improve service reliability in the affected areas.
“Good evening, the listed area will be affected by a planned power interruption tomorrow, 9th June 2026, as part of network maintenance,” Kenya Power stated.
Uasin Gishu areas
In the North Rift region, customers in parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience a power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include Merewet, Teresia, Mumetet, Kapnyongi, Chepkongi and neighbouring customers.

“AREA: MEREWET-Merewet, Teresia, Mumetet, Kapnyongi, Chepkongi & adjacent customers,”the utility company stated.
Bungoma areas
In the Western region, parts of Bungoma County will also be affected by the planned outage.
Customers in Kapkateny, Terem Power, Koroyowandet and Kimalewa Market will be without electricity from 9:00 am. to 3:00 pm.
“AREA: TEREM POWER, KAPKATENY-Kapkateny, Terem Power, Koroyowandet, Kimalewa Mkt & adjacent customers, “the utility company stated.

A separate maintenance exercise will affect Munyikana, Mwalim House, Dinah, Santa Barbra, Malaha, Sirisia, Bujosi, Webuye Jaggery, Noah Wekesa, Lugulu, Misikhu, Wananchi, Lavington and surrounding areas.
“AREA: LUGULU, MUNYIKANA-Munyikana, Mwalim House, Dinah, Santa Barbra, Malaha, Sirisia, Bujosi, Webuye Jaggery, NoahWekesa, Lugulu, Misikhu, Wananchi, Lavington & adjacent customers,” Kenya Power said.
The outage in these locations is expected to last from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
