Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Thursday, May 28
Kenya Power has announced a list of areas across several counties that will experience planned power interruptions on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
In an official advisory, the utility firm explained that the scheduled outages are necessary to improve system reliability, stating, “The interruption is part of network maintenance.”
Consumers are advised to plan ahead and turn off sensitive electronic appliances to avoid potential damage when power is restored.
Nairobi Region outages
Parts of Nairobi will experience electricity supply cuts from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. In Zimmerman, the blackout will affect Car Wash Zimmerman, the Seventh Day Adventist church and surrounding customers.
In Gumba, residents within Gumba Estate and Mbinda will be without power during the same period.
Large sections of Ngong Road and Naivasha Road will also face interruptions.

The blackout will affect critical installations and spots like The Junction Mall, Melchizedek Hospital, the Metrological Department, Nairobi City County Staff Houses, Jockey Club, and the War Memorial Cemetery.
Educational centres including Braeburn School, Rusinga School, and Lepic School are also listed. Residential zones along Wanyee Road, Kinyanjui Road, Nyakinywa Road, Naivasha Road Flats, Gitanga Road, and parts of Kawangware and Riruta will be impacted.
North Rift and Mt. Kenya Regions
In the North Rift region, parts of Uasin Gishu County will experience a shutdown from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The specific areas include Bayete, Kerita, Burnt Forest, Kitingia, Cherus, Ndungulu, Kaptega, Kapsundei, Sengalo, Chereber, Kapchorwa, Ndanai, Ngarua, Kondoo, Kapkeno, Languse, and Cheboror.

In Nandi County, the power cut will run from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. This will affect Arwos Centre, Cheribisi, and St. Roberts Arwos.
In the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The outage will hit Mweru, Ngamwa, and Karaba areas. Specific locations include Mweru Coffee Factory, Kinuri, Ngamwa, Karaba Dispensary, Mahuri Farm, Mutonga, Kabuta Market, Kigetuini, Kimathi, Rutune Primary, Mitundu, Kangure, Kambwe, Kaini, Gumba Dispensary, Kariara Mawe, Geitwa, and Kibuu.
Kenya Power has urged affected customers to track updates and additional maintenance schedules through its official digital channels.
