Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by blackout on Monday, May 26

Kenya Power has announced scheduled maintenance that will lead to power interruptions in parts of Kisii, Nyeri, Meru, and other surrounding areas on Monday, May 25, 2026.

In a statement on X on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the utility company said the planned outage is part of routine maintenance aimed at improving electricity supply reliability

“Good evening, please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption as outlined in the attached notice,” Kenya Power stated.

Kisii County outage

In Kisii County, parts of the Iruma area, including St. Peter’s Primary School and Kisii Sewerage, will be affected.

Nearby customers connected to the same line will also experience interruption between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Nyeri County affected areas

In Nyeri County, the blackout will affect Gatei TBC, Ragati Tea Factory, Kagochi Market, Ragati Forest Station, Kiangengi, Kianjiru-Ini and surrounding areas.

Other affected installations include Safaricom and Airtel boosters, which rely on the same power line.

“Gatei TBC, Kiangengi, Ragati T/Fact, Kagochi Mkt, Ragati Forest Stn, Kianjiru-Ini Tbc, Kiangengi Mkt, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters &adjacent customers,” Kenya Power stated.

The outage will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Meru County power interruption

In Meru County, the planned maintenance will affect areas around Imenti Tea Factory and Marimba University.

Other affected locations include Nkando, Kiangurwe, Uruku Prison, Kithirune Girls, Kithirune Market, Mbui Njeru, Kathera Girls and nearby customers.
