Kenya Power lists areas to be affected by 8-hour blackout on Saturday, August 22
By Steve Ireri, August 22, 2026Kenya Power has announced an eight-hour power interruption expected to affect parts of Mombasa Road on Saturday, August 22, 2026, as the utility company carries out planned maintenance on its electricity network.
In a notice issued on Friday, August 21, Kenya Power said the scheduled interruption will run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, meaning customers in the affected areas could remain without electricity for most of the day.
According to the utility company, the planned maintenance will affect customers within the Mombasa Road area in the Nairobi region.
“Good evening, please find the areas affected by the planned power interruption scheduled for Saturday, 22.08.2026,” Kenya Power said in the notice.
The interruption will affect customers around Mombasa Road, with Kenya Power listing specific premises expected to be affected by the planned maintenance.
The utility company listed Alliance Concrete and Portland among the areas that will experience the interruption.

Customers in adjacent areas may also be affected by the planned works, according to the notice issued by the power distributor.
Residents, businesses and other electricity users within the affected areas have therefore been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled interruption.
The eight-hour outage is expected to begin at 9.00 am and run until 5.00 pm, although the actual restoration of electricity will depend on the progress of the maintenance works.
Friday blackout
In a notice issued on Thursday, August 20, the utility company said the previous interruption was scheduled to run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm as part of planned maintenance.
The Friday interruption affected the Mt Kenya and Coast regions, with customers in specified areas of Nyeri and Taita Taveta listed among those expected to experience the outage.
In Nyeri County, Kenya Power had listed Ngangarithi and Kimathi Estate among the affected areas.
The utility company had also listed Ngangarithi Market, Town View and Kwa Mwaura, together with adjacent customers.
In Taita Taveta County, the planned interruption affected Chakaleri, with Kenya Power listing several surrounding areas, including Landi, Ziwa la Ng’ombe, Mzwanenyi and Mwatunge.
Other areas listed in the previous notice included Public Works, Msisinenyi, Mandala and Singila, as well as adjacent customers.
