Revolutionary activist Kasmuel McOure is mourning the loss of his cousin, Elvina Majiwa, who passed away in the ICU in a Nairobi hospital after a short illness.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on his official social media accounts on Monday, December 15, 2025, he described her as not only a cousin but also a true friend and confidante.

“I am distraught by the death of my cousin, Elvina Majiwa, who passed away in the ICU after a short illness in Nairobi. She was my true friend, someone who loved colour and lived boldly. She always made sure we knew we were loved. We shared a special bond, always pushing each other to be the best we could be,” McOure said.

In addition, McOure described his late cousin as the life of the party, always curious and constantly chasing knowledge in languages, music, art, and sports.

“We were always the life of the party. Always competing at team-building activities, constantly chasing knowledge together: languages, music, art, and sports. These were things she cherished to the end. She was one of my closest friends: a measured, calculated woman who gave fully of herself,” McOure stated.

Known for her charm and determination, Elvina even helped Kasmuel convince his grandfather to sell him a car that no one else could touch.

“She lived a full life, fully aware of her limits, and always pushing them. She ate healthily and loved loudly, and we never left a room without getting what we wanted. She was such a charmer. So good, in fact, that she once helped me convince my grandpa to sell me a W211 he wouldn’t let anyone touch,” he added.

Even during her illness, Elvina remained a fighter, rarely showing her pain to the world. Kasmuel noted that her colouring book served as her source of joy and reflection, a way she expressed herself in both happy and low moments.

“A fighter to the very end, she never sought pity for her illness or her troubles. She hid deep pain from the world, especially when her body was fighting her the most. Still, she faced every situation with colour, quite literally. Her colouring book was her oracle. She coloured when she was happy, and she coloured still in her lowest moments,” he added.

Reflecting on the void left by her passing, McOure noted that Elvina was passionate about empowering young girls and committed to tobacco control, adding that she worked alongside Kasmuel in student leadership, mental health advocacy, and governance initiatives.

“As bold as she was, she feared dying without securing some victory for humanity, and she did. She was passionate about empowering young girls and committed to tobacco control. Together, we did meaningful work in student leadership, mental health, advocacy, and our country’s governance. What an incomprehensible void, Balozi,” he stated.

“I miss you deeply, my friend.”
