Govt taps ODM youth leader Kasmuel to boost Hustler Fund uptake

The government has reached across the political divide to enlist Kasmuel Mcoure in a fresh push to widen access to flagship empowerment programmes, including the Hustler Fund.

In a statement issued on Thursday, December 18, 2025, the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development announced a new partnership with Kasmuel, an ODM Youth League member and convener of the Broad-Based Youth Front.

MSMEs Development Principal Secretary Susan Mang’eni said the collaboration is aimed at expanding the reach and impact of government initiatives by working closely with youth-led structures that have influence at the grassroots.

“To expand the reach and impact of our State Department, we look forward to collaborating with @_KasKazini, the convener of the Broad-Based Youth Front, to ensure that more young people can access timely information, opportunities, and tools that support their economic empowerment,” Mang’eni said.

She noted that the partnership will focus on increasing awareness and uptake of key programmes designed to support small businesses and youth entrepreneurship, including the Hustler Fund, the NYOTA Project and shared user spaces under the Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE).

According to Mang’eni, the initiatives are intended to help MSMEs engage in value addition, scale up their enterprises and create sustainable livelihoods, particularly for young people who often struggle to access capital and market opportunities.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to deepen youth awareness and uptake of key government initiatives, including the
@hustlerfund_KE Fund, @NYOTA_Kenya Project and shared User Spaces under @KIE_Kenya that enable MSMEs to engage in value addition, scale their enterprises, and create sustainable livelihoods,” Mang’eni added.

The move is likely to draw attention for its political undertones, coming at a time when the government is keen to drive uptake of the Hustler Fund while also appealing to younger demographics across party lines.

Kasmuel, who has been active in youth mobilisation and advocacy, is expected to play a key role in bridging the gap between government programmes and young entrepreneurs on the ground.

The partnership underscores the government’s strategy of leveraging youth networks to drive economic empowerment and ensure flagship initiatives reach their intended beneficiaries.
